NOTICE: In accordance with recent United States laws, our jewelry is NOT intended for children under the age of 12. This jewelry contains small parts, including beads and Swarovski Crystals that may contain small amounts of lead, and could pose a choking hazard for children. Please use good judgement and common sense by not allowing an infant, toddler, or small child handle or play with this or any jewelry or small items. Always keep any hazardous items out of childrens reach at all times and use proper precautions to safeguard them.
We use the best possible materials in our keepsakes: .925 Sterling Silver, solid 14K Gold, 14k 1/20 Gold Filled, genuine Gemstones, lead-free Pewter, jewelry grade Stainless Steel, color coated Aluminum and genuine Swarovski Crystal.
We recommend that you do NOT wear this jewelry 24/7. With nonstop wear, sterling silver is subject to work hardening and brittleness, which will cause it to break easier. With beaded bracelets, constant wear and water exposure will cause the beading wire to soften, fray, and break easier. We recommend that beaded bracelets be cleaned and restrung at least once per year to preserve the integrity and durability of the bracelet. We are happy to clean and polish your jewelry and restring your bracelets for a nominal fee, just email us for a price quote before mailing your My Forever Child jewelry back. To extend the life of your jewelry, do NOT wear to bed, while washing dishes, in the shower, hot tub or pool. Remove bracelets before doing housework or labor intensive work. Chemicals in items such as perfume, hair spray, lotions, medications, sunscreens, and tanners may discolor and erode the surface of the metals. Jewelry should be the last thing you put on after getting ready. Gently wiping your jewelry once a week after wearing with a jewelry polishing cloth made for silver will help to remove the dirt, oil, and oxidation. A little regular care of your jewelry will go a long way in keeping it looking good for years to come.
When not in use, it is recommended that you store your jewelry sealed in the jewelry zip bag that it arrived in. This keeps out air which leads to oxidation and tarnish in precious metals. Be careful that the sterling silver or gold charms do not touch crystals, neclace chains, or other jewelry, as this could scratch your keepsakes.

Some regular care and cleaning is necessary to maintain the integrity and appearance of your jewelry pieces:
~14K Gold Filled- this is a material with a thick layer of genuine 14k gold fused with heat and pressure to the surface of a base metal. It is much more durable than gold plating. Gold Filled items may tarnish, but can be cleaned and cared for in the same manner as sterling silver, listed below.
~Sterling Silver- is a soft metal which can easily scratch. Take care not to have it touch other metals or stones that will marr the surface. All of our jewelry is professionally machine polished at the time of manufacture. Then they are hand polished at least twice before leaving our studio. Sterling silver with a high polish will show polish lines and fine scratches easier than with a textured finish (matte, satin, sandblasted, hammered, etc.) But all silver has some surface scratches since it is a relatively soft material. This should not be considered a defect, but part of the nature of sterling silver. Through regular use, sterling will develop its own patina, which may dull the surface, instead of the high polish surface it came with. This is normal and to be expected. When exposed to heat and humidity, and even sweat, sterling silver will oxidize faster and may turn very dark or dirty looking quickly. This is a common problem during hot weather and in humid climates and with pieces that lay directly on the skin, like necklace pendants and charms. You can clean your jewelry pieces by using a mild dishwashing liquid (such as Dawn), warm water, and a soft cotton cloth or baby toothbrush. After cleaning, rinsing with water, and drying your jewelry, tarnish can be removed by rubbing the piece with a jewelry polishing cloth made especially for silver. We highly recommend the Sunshine Polishing Cloth, sold in the Gift Wrapping category. We also suggest that you exhale some warm breath onto the piece, to fog it up, before rubbing with the polishing cloth. This really helps to bring out the luster! We do not recommend silver paste, tooth paste or liquid dip silver cleaner as these can be too harsh for jewelry and remove any oxidized patina. With regular care, cleaning and storage, sterling silver jewelry will last for years as a treasured keepsake.
~Small Footprints Charms (original style)- We use a blackend patina on the Small Footprints Charm, which may lighten over time and wear. Take care not to unnecessarily rub or touch the front of the charm, and do not use a silver polisher or chemicals which may remove the patina. As with any jewelry, do not shower, bathe, or go in pool or hottub with your Footprints Charm. Should the patina come off, you may send it back to us for a touch up at no cost.

A Note about Keychains:
Sterling Silver is a relatively soft material that WILL scratch and ding when in contact with harder materials, such as keys. This is normal and to be expected. If you prefer to use your keychain as a treasured keepsake only, please do not attach keys to the keyring. You can use the keychain for decorative purposes in a memory box, shadow box, jewelry box, around a car rear view mirror, or on a hook. Please take extra care to not have the keychain touch other keys, keychains, or jewelry that may scratch it.

~Swarovski Crystals- may be cleaned with a mild dishwashing soap, warm water, and soft cloth. Dry immediately to avoid water spots. Swarovski crystals are very hard and may scratch softer stones or metals. Crystals are made from glass and can break and shatter if struck on a hard surface. Take extra care to clean up and discard any broken crystals with a wet paper towel, and never touch broken crystals with bare hands. Swarovski crystals contain lead, see notice below:
- Required Notice to California Residents: Proposition 65 Warning: Consuming food or beverages that have been kept or served in leaded crystal products or handling products made of leaded crystal will expose you to lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.

~Leather- is a natural, animal-based product that may relax, stretch and fade over time. Leather bracelets and necklace chains should not be exposed to water.
~Stainless Steel Chains- can scratch softer Sterling Silver pendants. When not being worn, store your pendant not touching the stainless steel chain or any other jewelry or items, to prevent scratching. Ideally, place your sterling pendant in a small jewelry zip bag, without the chain touching it.
